How To Make Ginger Tea | Adrak Chai

Ginger tea or Adrak chai is a favourite in many Indian households. The cup that wakes us up in the morning & energises us from the afternoon slump. Get the recipe for the authentic chai recipe with the extra strong kick of ginger.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 3/4 cups water
  • 1/2 inch ginger piece of fresh , crushed
  • 1/2 tsp ginger dried powder (soonth powder)
  • 3.5 tsps tea CTC *
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3 tsps sugar
  • drops Ginger (optional) spice

Instructions
 

  • In a saucepan, bring the water to boil with the crushed fresh ginger and ginger powder.
  • Let this boil until reduced a bit (to about 1.5 cups of water). This ensures that the ginger flavours are infused into the water.
  • Add the CTC tea, reduce the flame and allow to simmer for 4-5 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, bring the milk to boil in a small saucepan.
  • Add the milk to the tea, simmer for 2 minutes and remove from flame.
  • Keep this covered for 2 minutes.
  • Using a tea strainer, strain into cups. Stir in required sugar and two drops of the ginger spice drops into each cup.Savour immediately :)
